I am thankful for some fairly specific things today. My list will not be long, but these are big things in my life right now!
101. I am THANKFUL for my husband who goes out of his way to make sure I am healthy physically, mentally, relationally, emotionally, and spiritually. Whether he gives me a morning to sleep in or a morning to chat with a friend or stays home with the girls while I get out for a bit, he is ALWAYS aware of how I am doing. He is great at asking questions & not letting things just sit there uncared for. I love you, babe! God gave me the perfect match!!!
102-105. I am THANKFUL that I get to stay home with my girls. This is a big one particularly this week. It has been a hard week. I am trying new things every day to work through the struggles of raising Addison right now. Some days I want to drop them off and go to work somewhere besides my home. But, in reality I cannot imagine that. God is so faithful to provide. He takes care of all our family needs & then some. I am THANKFUL that I not only get quality time with them, but a large quantity of time with them. I am THANKFUL that I have gotten to be a part of so many of their firsts & not hear it from someone else. I am THANKFUL that we get to have picnics in the middle of the day, read books together, make cards for people EVERY DAY, and cook & clean together! I am THANKFUL that I get to say yes more than no because I am not distracted with the rest of my life. Some days I have a difficult time being thankful for all of those things:)
106. I am THANKFUL for my friend Sharon who models persistence, intentionality, and authenticity. She never acts like she has it all together. She never judges those of us who are not where she is. She just wakes up every day surrendering herself to Jesus & loving her family well. And, then she opens herself up so that others can learn from her successes and failures. For that I am so grateful.
107. I am THANKFUL for our Family Ministry volunteers who are giving so much of themselves to invest spiritually in the next generation. I am refreshed after having breakfast with Angela this morning who wants to do & be all God has called her to be so that Preschoolers can know that God Made Me, God Loves Me, and Jesus Wants to be My Friend Forever. She wants to partner with parents so that they too can learn to disciple their children. We have been blessed with a great team that is still growing & I cannot wait to see what God does at Lakeland!
108. I am THANKFUL for my friend Jennifer who is celebrating her 15th Wedding Anniversary today. I am thankful because she intentionally invests in her husband and children every day. She understands what God has entrusted to her & does not take her role as a wife and mom lightly. She is constantly seeking God & learning to follow Him more closely. She is modeling for so many what a healthy family looks like!
109. I am THANKFUL for so many that have invested in me, cared for me, and loved me well during my journey of following Jesus. We were not intended to do it alone!
110. I am THANKFUL for my mom who consistently pointed me towards Jesus. Oh how a family can be changed if that is the culture in their home. When good times arise, look for Jesus. When bad stuff happens, look for Jesus. When others are hurting, point them to Jesus. When life is uncertain, look for Jesus. When people are searching for anything, point them to Jesus. That is what I learned from her & I hope I can continue that legacy!
Thanks, Courtney! Some days my thankful list is a little more REAL & focused:)
