SAVE THE DATE! February is for our husbands! Let's pray for our husbands. Stop for a moment and think about how you feel when someone is praying for you. Now, who is praying for your husband today?
Oh, how I long to commune with my Heavenly Father daily about His Kingdom reigning on this earth, in my home and in my community. I get so distracted by the things right in front of me, that often I come before Him in prayer with my mind going in a thousand different directions and overwhelmed with the moment. Praying for God to show up in the moment is not wrong. But, sometimes it can keep me from praying the prayers that overwhelm me with peace and joy. So often, I just come with a list of urgent needs or situations I cannot figure out, and I forget to stay long enough to sit and listen to the heart of God.
Sometimes I forget to dream about all God wants to do in and through my husband and our family. And, so, I forget to bring those before Him in prayer. He is the giver of big dreams. He is the completer of big dreams. He gives us wisdom and peace as we chase after Him. Intentional prayers can bring His Kingdom right here--in the midst of my living and doing and being.
So, in February, I am going to pray specifically for my husband and what God is doing in and through him. As a wife, I have the privilege and responsibility to pray for my husband. I know the prayers and encouragement from me are the most intimate and most necessary for him to walk in line with God's calling, so I want to love him by praying for him and encouraging him.
A few years ago, I received a list and tweaked it for my husband& I still refer back as I pray. This is a great place to start--let's pray for the important things, not just what is overwhelming and right in front of us!
- His Leadership
- His Calling
- His Relationships with those far from God
- As Husband
- As Daddy
- His Friendships
- His Time with Jesus
- His Future
I want to invite you to join me and a community of women in February who are going to pray intentionally for our husbands. If you are looking for a great resource to guide you, try out these prayer cards. I use these on a regular basis to pray for my kids & now I am going to use them to pray for my husband! I am excited for the scripture prayer cards to enhance the way I pray for my husband--to align what I have been praying for Him with Scripture and His purposes! Praying scripture aligns our hearts with God’s Word producing fervent, powerful and effective prayers. And, as a bonus, 40% of the proceeds from FLOURISH Intentional Prayer Cards will support our adoption. Find out more about our adoption story here!
AND, I am giving away one set of cards to a reader this week! All you have to do is comment here or on the Facebook post with which of the eight areas above you most want to pray for your husband this month AND share this post on Facebook & use #intentionalprayer by Friday, January 22.
Join us in February by using #intentionalprayer and encourage each other to pray for our husbands!
